An orange (Santra), its pulp, the fibre (Resha) and the exterior wall that encloses it, have been an inspiration while designing this lamp. Sultana craft is a dying craft that originates from Rajasthan in which a metal wire is hand-woven along with another wire/thread that revolves around covering a frame. This method has been used to mimic the carpel of an orange. Soft and diffused light, fixed within the frame in a semi indirect way, gives it the vibrancy of an orange pulp along with warmth. The wooden framework gives the lamp its structure and protection like the exterior wall of an orange.
The lamp serves as a suitable indoor light. Its contemporary shape and traditional handiwork, along with soothing colours adds a unique touch to the space where it’s kept.
